My very first blog post was dedicated to convincing those addicted to the creamy crack to join me on the other side and go natural. One year later, I am back and excited to say that I am 100% natural! No dye, no chemical, no lye, just the curls that grow from my head, and I've never been happier!

One thing that I stood by firmly during my transition was that you should cut your hair when you're ready. With that being said, after I took down my sew-in back in February, I looked in the mirror and told myself it was time to do something bold... well for me. I have never been one to color my hair, try new cuts, or styles, but finally I decided that I wanted to cut the relaxed ends of my hair. I FaceTimed my wild and daring best friend for a boost of confidence, grabbed a pair of scissors, and minutes later, I began snipping! When I looked down, a piece about 3 inches long had fallen to the sink. It was too late to turn back though, I had to finish what I started. I had never felt so liberated in my life until the moment that I let my curls flourish. It was done, I had cut my hair. Days later, I put my hair in another sew-in to allow my hair to continue to grow.

Fast forward to May, I was sick of weave and anxious to see what progress my hair had made. I took my sew-in out and was very pleased to see that my hair had grown longer and my curls were beautiful. I was so excited to see what my hair could do, so I grabbed the few hair products that I had and began trying hair tips that I remember seeing on YouTube tutorials. I finger coiled my hair for hours and put my hair in a silk bonnet just like I was told. The next morning, I woke up expecting to look just like the girls on YouTube but instead, I woke up like this...

I've never been so disappointed lol. But I re-wet my hair and grabbed some gel from a friend and the day was saved! In closing, my natural hair journey is complete, but it's just getting started all in the same breath. I will continue to learn what works best for me, and I will keep you all updated as well. So to all the girls who feel like they can't do it, feel like giving up, or just needed to see a regular girl go through the process, you can do it! Good luck :)
