After four seasons and a ten-year hiatus, Disney Channel announced that the That’s So Raven spinoff, Raven’s Home, will air this summer, and its return has gotten more than just the kids talking. That’s So Raven proved to be a hit during its time on television and was even credited for taking the Disney brand to new global heights. Raven’s Home might be just what Disney Channel needs. A resurgence of what many consider a “Disney favorite” could benefit the network by attracting a newer generation of fans all while allowing original That’s So Raven lovers the opportunity to watch the cast take on new and exciting journeys.

“Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world. Her performance in That’s So Raven is timeless,” said Disney Executive Vice President, Adam Bonnett.

Long-time That’s So Raven fans first seemed skeptical about the idea, but rightfully so. With other fan favorite childhood shows like Boy Meets World and Full House making not-so-earth shaking comebacks to television, viewers are wondering if this sequel will possess the wow factor needed to measure up to the original.

Disney heard the fan’s concerns and released multiple trailers with the hopes of encouraging nay-sayers to give the reboot a chance. In the show, Raven Baxter and B.F.F, Chelsea Daniels (Anneliese Van Der Pol), are both divorced single mothers who raise their children together under one roof. Raven has 11-year-old twins (Issac Brown and Navia Robinson) and Chelsea has a 9-year-old son (Jason Maybaum). This time around however, there are two psychics in the house after one of Raven’s children finds out that they too can see the future...well, sort of.

While some things remain the same like Raven’s quirky and light-hearted spirit, as well as the overall concept of the show, other major adjustments will take some getting used to. A key cast member, Orlando Brown (A.K.A Eddie, Raven’s other best friend), will not be involved in the re-launching of the show, and fans feel a way about it.

The former co-star even took to social media to share his mixed emotions about his lack of involvement in the series spin-off.

“When you say That's So Raven 2, it’s a serious situation because we have fans all around the world that love the whole cast,” he said.

A statement from the neither the producers nor the cast has been released yet to say why Brown won’t be returning to the show; however, Twitter users are chunking it up to his extreme social media tangents and anti-Disney behavior over the past few months.

Nonetheless, the anticipation for the series is high and the pressure for success is on. The premiere will debut on Friday, July 21st. Following the premiere, new episodes will air regularly on Fridays at 8:30/7:30c. Does the future of Raven’s Home look bright? Only the psychics know its fate. The rest of us regular folks will have to tune in next month to find out.
