The highly anticipated Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me, hit theaters Friday, but after watching, fans claim that the movie is in fact, not a hit at all. After many honest and honorable depictions of fellow hip-hop legends such as Notorious B.I.G and N.W.A, viewers anticipated that All Eyez On Me would follow suit; however, actress and close friend to Tupac, Jada Pinkett-Smith, took to Twitter to express her disappointment with the film; revealing that many scenes were inaccurate. Pinkett went on to say that the writers fabricated several interactions between she and Tupac such as backstage arguments and intimate moments between the two.

Producer, L.T. Hutton, fired back at Pinkett-Smith saying that he stretched the truth to allow Tupac to live the life that he was unable to. “It’s who Tupac was, who he wanted to be and who he had to be to survive the world that he was introduced into.”
Others chimed in on the movie as well. Rapper, 50 Cent, warned fans that the movie is so unimpressive it’s only worth catching on bootleg. He even demanded a refund! Tupac Twitter didn’t hold back either. They confirmed the inaccuracy of the movie by pointing out Pac’s use of technology that didn’t exist during his era. The negative reviews later sparked a series of memes and jokes about the film under the hilarious hashtag, #ILeftWhenPac.
It appears the portrayal of Pac’s life may be too pretentious for moviegoers. With any luck, All Eyez On Me will succeed despite the harsh critiques, and future biopics will learn to put some respect on a legend’s legacy to prevent uproars like this.
